Your Boss Wants an Invitation to Your Wedding. Do You Have to Invite Him?

Dear Office Mom,
I’m having a small intimate wedding and my boss is giving off some questionable hints that he wants an invite. I’ve work there about two years. Would you invite your boss to your wedding?

Only invite your boss if you want the boss to be part of your special day! Otherwise, throw the venue limitations or budget constraints card as an excuse. Say something like this — “We would like to invite you but we have limits on the guest count at the venue” or “I know you want to attend, and we would love to be able to extend an invite to you, but we have budget constraints.” Either one is usually true and legitimate. Then perhaps suggest something like this “I would love to share some of my memories and photos from the wedding after I get back from my honeymoon. Can we go to lunch or have coffee and talk about it?” I hope this helps!
