Make Your Workplace More Fun This Year!

If you work from an office that is not based at home, then you will know that you spend more time with the people that you work with than you do with your own family. The hours can be long, and the people that you work with are all in it together. While the job that you will have to do may be serious and important, there is a lot of being in the office that can be joyful and fun. And when the office is a fun place to be, it can help you enjoy going to work, as well as help the rest of the team, and help you to be more productive at work too. So with all of that in mind, here are some ideas to help you to make the office a more fun place to be in 2019. Is there anything else that you would add to the list?

Allow Happiness

This might sound like a bit of an odd thing, but how many of us have suppressed certain feelings at work because we feel like it should be a serious place? If we allow our team to be joyful and happy, then it will rub off on other people, but it does start with you. It can be possible to be professional and have a smile on your face all at the same time.

Celebrate the Small Things

Because you spend so much time with your colleagues at work, it really does make a difference if you can all be part of each others lives and celebrate the small things with each other. It could be that you bring in cakes for birthdays or have a small party in the office when targets are hit. It just helps everyone to get to know each other, and fosters a great team spirit when individuals are celebrated, as well as team achievements.

Improve Physical Environment

The physical environment that you work in can play a part in how well things go at work. If the office is dark, cold, and uncomfortable, it isn’t going to make for a great environment for people at work (or for fostering happy feelings). So take a look at the space that you have and have a think about what can be done to make it be better. Could you improve or create an outside space too? Physically leaving the office at break times can be a really good thing for mental health and well being. And while it may not be practical to have a full garden outdoors, looking for artificial turf could be an idea, as the upkeep is only artificial turf infill from time to time. Get benches out there and it will be a big way to creating a happy and inviting environment.

Let Things Go

There is an old saying that when you don’t forgive someone it is like you drinking poison and then waiting for the other person to die; it isn’t productive or helpful for anyone when that happens. So learn to forgive and let things go at work. You need to get the job done, which will be so much easier when you’re able to get along.
